2" Hail Hail In Our Neighborhood More Hail!!!
It was a pretty tough 24 hours. The tornados started Friday night, March 14th with the big one hitting downtown Atlanta right when the college basketball finals were being played and there were 50,000 people all in the area attending the games at both the Georgia Dome and Phillips Arena. Lots of damage at both places as well as at CNN. We just had bad wind and rain but the darn Weather Alert Radio kept going off every 20 minutes all night long.

We awoke around 5 A.M. when the first of many storms started rolling in. We had a lightning strike close by which took out the DLS modem as well as the HD satellite receiver downstairs. Then the fun started around noon.

Here came the storms, one by one. The first one scared us because we watched it approach and when it was about 20 miles away, they were saying it contained 5 tornados and they were all heading our way. But by the time it got close, there were only two and they both passed about 3 miles away. Still too close for comfort. Besides heavy rain, we had dime sized hail right before the tornados passed. An hour later, here came another storm, this time they were saying the radar was picking up 3 1/2" size hail (I've never heard of such a thing!!!) besides another tornado. We were all in the tornado room (8' X 4" under the stairs). Real bad winds as I watched 1 3/4" hail hit the house as well as the windows. I knew our cars were history.

An hour later they predicted 2 more tornados heading in our direction. I was really starting to wonder why we moved here. I have never seen anything like this before. After around 5 P.M., all of the storms had passed and somehow we managed to not get any damage nor did the cars.
